MIchaelmas, African Fellowship Sunday, and Blessing of the Animals!
Come this Sunday to Celebrate the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels (Michaelmas)!This weekend, as we celebrate St. Michael and All Angels, the full Choir of Saint James returns to launch the start of the new program year. And, I get to preach about what St Michael slaying Satan-as-Dragon can possibly mean for us! Blessing of the Animals! Next Sunday, October 4th!Next Sunday, Oct 4, we’ll enjoy one of the most delightful days of the year: the Blessing of Animals, as we celebrate the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. Bring your pets to church on that day for a blessing and a certificate of blessing as well. Godly Play Returns Next Sunday, Oct 4th!Godly Play, a fun class for our St. James children, will be every 1st and 3rd Sunday during 10:30am service! Parents may drop off their children ages 3 and up at Godly Play in the Parish Hall before 10:30AM service for a child-focused lesson. Children under the age of 3 may attend with a trusted adult. Two adult volunteers will be present, and parents will be asked to sign a consent form. Children will be returned to their parents in the church by adult volunteers by the time of announcements. Come join us this Sunday for fun, child-centered lessons and activities! The Godly Play Schedule is below: October 4 October 18 November 1 November 15 Bishop Visits Our Deanery Oct 10 at 4pmAnother chance is coming up to visit with Bishop Antonio, when he spends an afternoon at St. Alban’s Church (by UCLA) to get to know the people of our own Deanery 3. This is a great chance to get to know him better and to meet your fellow Episcopalians from other churches! Please consider joining in the fellowship and fun that afternoon. Save the Date!
