Calling All Pentecost Readers!Next Sunday, May 24 we will celebrate Pentecost, one of the principal feasts of the church year, which takes place 50 days after Easter (the term Pentecost means fiftieth day). On this day, we marvel at the power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Here at St James, we love the tradition of hearing scripture read in multiple languages on Pentecost Day, representing the universality of the Holy Spirit. Do you speak a language you would like to share in a reading that day? Readers still needed! If so, please reach out to Mother Kate at kcress@stjla.org by THIS Tuesday, May 19th. Consider wearing red or any other flame-like colors next Sunday, May 24 to represent the fire of the Holy Spirit! Pentecost at St. JamesJoin parents and children in the parish hall for the first half of the 10:30am service on Pentecost, May 24th, for a festive Pentecost children's activity and a chance for parents to learn more about our new church school program moving forward. Save the Date - June 28 Father Jon's Last ServiceFr. Jon Feuss has been appointed Canon to the Ordinary by our Bishop-Elect Antonio Gallardo, and we are so proud of the role he will play in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. Be sure to save the date of Sunday, June 28th, as this will be his final service at St. James. And plan to stay for a festive lunch and goodbye celebration (complete with speeches!) immediately following the service.
