Final Evensong, the 2026 - 2027 Organ Recital Season.....and Happy Mother's Day! ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers and other motherly mentors at St. James! We give thanks for you!

Calling All Pentecost Readers

On Sunday, May 24 we will celebrate Pentecost, one of the principal feasts of the church year, which takes place 50 days after Easter (the term Pentecost means fiftieth day). On this day, we marvel at the power of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Here at St James, we love the tradition of hearing scripture read in multiple languages on Pentecost Day, representing the universality of the Holy Spirit. Do you speak a language you would like to share in a reading that day? If so, please reach out to Mother Kate at kcress@stjla.org by Tuesday, May 19th.

Final Evensong of the 2025-26 Season this Sunday, May 10th

It’s hard to believe that the last service of our Evensong season will be taking place this Sunday, May 10th at 4:15PM. We will resume Evensong services in October of 2026. Why not invite your mother -- or someone who has mothered or mentored you -- to lunch and then Evensong this Sunday? We will have flowers on hand for all mothers and beloved mother figures.

Then, at 6PM, we welcome Ariana Corbin, Organ Scholar at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, as our penultimate organ recitalist of the season (and then, one more beautiful organ recital on June 14th). Her program will provide a perfect end to a beautiful Mother’s Day.

Save the Date - June 28 Father Jon's Last Service

Fr. Jon Feuss has been appointed Canon to the Ordinary by our Bishop-Elect Antonio Gallardo, and we are so proud of the role he will play in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. Be sure to save the date of Sunday, June 28th, as this will be his final service at St. James. And plan to stay for a festive lunch and goodbye celebration (complete with speeches!) immediately following the service.
