Starting this Sunday, July 19th, Godly Play, a fun class for our St. James children, will be every 1st and 3rd Sunday during 10:30am service! Parents may drop off their children ages 3 and up at Godly Play in the Parish Hall before 10:30AM service for a child-focused lesson. Children under the age of 3 may attend with a trusted adult. Two adult volunteers will be present, and parents will be asked to sign a consent form. Children will be returned to their parents in the church by adult volunteers by the time of announcements. Come join us for fun, child-centered lessons and activities!

Next Week July 26 - St. James Day

Every year on the final weekend of July, we celebrate our patron saint, St. James! This year we will again enjoy a visit from our favorite taco truck and celebrate with cake. If you’d like to bring something, salads, and fruit salads are most welcome! In the past, we have gathered on the St. James school field; however, this year, we will stay cool in our own parish hall with overflow into the courtyard! Be sure to join us for a festive summer lunch!

Confirmation Class to Begin

I will be teaching a four-session confirmation class on the following dates: August 4, 11, 25 and September 1. These classes will meet on Tuesday nights on Zoom at 7 PM in the evening and will last one hour. Please email me if you would like to participate! This class can lead to confirmation or reception into the church if you have already been confirmed elsewhere.

And then, on September 13, our new bishop, The Rt Rev Antonio Gallardo Lucena will visit our church and confirm or receive the people who have taken the class. This also will also be a wonderful day for baptisms, so if you have been considering baptism, I would love to hear from you too.

Update on Kitchen Stove Fundraising

The energy unleashed by our community in support of a New Kitchen Stove has been a marvel to behold! Clearly, friends of Soup Kitchen have been spreading the word to open hearts as contributions flow in from the St. James’ community and from around the country. We’ll keep the donation link live for one more week, confident that we will reach our goal by then. Hope is alive. Gratitude is endless.

Donation link is available right here!

And so, we have been developing a relationship with a faith based organization called LA Voice to help us learn more about how we can help. This Sunday, immediately following...
